Honey or sugar?

Ok so maybee you think I might bee biased when it comes to deciding whether honey or sugar is the correct choice for your health and your children's health SO I will hit you with the facts:
  1. Honey contains vitamins and  minerals: sugar does not. Honey contains calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, folate, choline amongst others.
  2. Honey has a lower GI level than sugar making it a healthier choice for your blood sugar levels. But honey varieties differ in their GI level. Yellow box honey is a good option with a GI of 35
  3. Sugar, is highly processed, while honey has only one processing step.
  4. Honey is sweeter than sugar, due to it's high level of fructose, so you need less honey: about half the amount.
So there is a fact I have left out  - they have similar calories so as far as weight loss  or gain there is no benefit except if you eat less honey as it is sweeter. So don't say I don't tell you the truth!
Also if you are considering giving honey to a child under 1 year of age please read this short article: Infants ate no honey
This is way too much honey, you only need a little unless you are a very active sportsperson.
